Youth Ministries

The Revolve Tour All Access is the Youth version of Women of Faith. It is coming to Houston on Feb.13-14, 2009. I would like to make a sort of Mother/Daughter retreat out of it. If there is any girl who would like to go and her mom can't, I have some ladies who will
play mom for the weekend!! We hope to charter a bus by working with other churches.

Plans are to leave Friday morning and be back late on Saturday night.  The link to the website if you would like more information is: http://www.revolvetour.com/.
The approximate cost (per person) is:
$ 54.00 ticket
$ 25.00 hotel for one night (based on 4 in a room)
$ 30.00 meals for Friday and Saturday
$ 30.00 transportation (this is a MAJOR guess)

I need to know by Nov. 15, 2008 if you are interested and you will need to pay $54.00 for
the ticket by Nov. 20. We plan to purchase the tickets early enough to get the group rate.

This will be a great opportunity to spend time together as mothers and daughters and
sisters in Christ.  Consider this fantastic opportunity to spend some time immersed in God's love. Please feel free to call me or email me if you have any questions.

INTERESTED IN YOUTH PRAISE BAND:

Reminder that ALL Youth are invited to the Youth Praise Band Practice starting on Sundays. If you play any instruments, want to learn one or like to sing this is the place for you!! We will also do some drama. If you have any questions you can call William Daniel at the Church.

YOUTH FUNDRAISERS:

EMPTY INK CARTRIDGES

We are still collecting empty printer ink cartridges and will all year. Boxes are in the Church office in front of the bathrooms and in the Fellowship Hall. We just sent in a box last month and received a check for $120 just by sending in our “trash.” Thanks so much.

Chicago Mission Trip

Our mission as the youth of UCUMC is to learn about God while having fun and making friends. We want to show all guests to our group and the adults and children of our church that believing in God can be fun. We hope to grow closer to God and deeper in our faith in Christ. We enjoy and look forward to welcoming new people, helping others and growing into the future leaders of Christ's Church.

United Methodist Youth (UMY) is offered to all 6th through 12th graders. We meet each Sunday for food, fellowship, sharing/prayer, and fun. We also try to do one special fun trip and a mission experience at least each quarter. Retreats, camps and a summer mission trip are also an integral part of our group as is fundraising for these adventures. Please take a look at our quarterly schedule and join us soon.

We recently hosted the 2nd Annual Living Market.  At this Market, we sell shares of stock for animals to be purchased for Heifer Project International.  Families in rural areas around the world receive the animals to help them support themselves.  Each class raised funds for one animal.  Donors were able to purchase shares in honor or in memory of someone.

We also had our 2nd annual Happy Birthday Jesus party.  Neighborhood families were invited for a free meal, birthday cake, Christmas stories, and surprises.  We pray that we were able to touch the lives of our neighbors.  We are grateful for the help we received with cooking and serving, reading of stories to the children, and financial assistance.
