A Prayer and Ministry Update from Kim Buck ...
...Reaching young people with the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Moscow, Russia

October 2014

We’ve been asking. For a very long time, we have been asking for God to raise up a strong force of laborers for the Gospel to come and sow the seeds of Jesus’ love and truth among the 1.1 million students of our magnificent city.

When I moved to Moscow in 2008, I was on a team of 12 amazing people who longed to see God transform Moscow with the hope of the Gospel. That team slowly began to change and get smaller as God called people to different places and different ministries. In the Spring of 2013, during the furlough of one couple from our team, our team was at its smallest. Dave, Jessica, Zach, and I continued to faithfully share the Gospel and empower believing students to start a student movement at their universities. We were 4 people. But we were a mighty 4, trusting God to do what only He could do!

Fast forward to now, October 2014, just over a year after the semester of the mighty 4, and as you can see from the pictures above, God has answered our prayers for laborers. We’re in the sweet spot! This year, we have 11 long-term staff members, and 13 interns working side-by-side to spread the Gospel to all who will listen! We are extremely excited to have 3 teams focusing on reaching students at Moscow State Pedagogical University, Russian People’s Friendship University, and Moscow State University this year, as well as some other universities where we know student believers. It’s something the mighty 4 could have only dreamed of! But we did dream, and so we prayed.

It is hard to believe all the support that was raised, all the prayers that have been prayed, and all the transformative work that God has done in the hearts of these amazing people, calling them to serve in Moscow, to get us to where we are today, 24 servants of Christ, whom God is using to spread “the fragrance of the knowledge of HIM everywhere.” (2 Cor 2:14b). I am so grateful to be a part of this incredible journey with these people and our believing students. God is working! I can’t wait to share with you throughout this year, some of the ways in which He does! And while we enjoy this sweet spot of so many laborers in the city, we continue to ask God for more. Until the Great Commission is fulfilled, we will ask and trust and pray for workers for the harvest!

Please Pray:

★ For unity in our new, big team, and wisdom in how to best work together and use each other’s strengths to have a great impact on students for Christ this year!

★For God to continue to raise up laborers for the harvest in Moscow.

★We have an evangelistic student retreat coming up Oct. 17-19. Please pray that many non- believers would attend who we have befriended in the last 6 weeks, and that our believing students would have the chance to come with some of their friends whom are non-believers. I can’t wait to share with you about this in my next letter!

★For God to help us to find more believing students throughout Moscow that we can invest in and help to start a student-led movement for Christ at their universities. Please also pray for our current student leaders, Nina, Dasha, and Anton, and our volunteer Lena, that they would be bold witnesses for Christ where God has placed them to be influencers!

★Our team has been focusing the past 6 weeks on meeting students at Moscow State University, especially with the goal to invite them to come to the retreat. MSU is definitely a challenging place, and we have found it hard to build relationships with students there. Please pray that God would break down both the relational and spiritual barriers that exist at this extremely influential university.

Thank you for your love, support, and prayers!
