Border Ministry at Universal City United Methodist Church serves with other Methodist Churches in the San Antonio area. Our outreach focuses on the spiritual and physical needs of our brothers & sisters in Piedras Negras, Mexico.


We seek to “come along side” our Christian brothers/sisters at 3 orphanages and 2 Methodist Churches in Piedras Negras:


Serving alongside Christian brothers, sisters, and children in Piedras Negras, Mexico as we work in God’s kingdom here on Earth.

2 Churches

  • Rey de Reyes Methodist: Mini-VBS for 120+ children bimonthly

  • Taking pizza lunch, Bible Lesson, games/crafts

  • Fabric & yarn

  • Monthly donation of $100 for satellite churches

  • Work projects

  • Templo Aleluya: Food & supplies as they feed 70+ children hot

  • Lunch 5 days/week year around

  • Supplies for cottage industries & selling products

  • Work projects


2 Orphanages

  • House of Mercy: Food & supplies for around 25 children (toddler-teen)

  • Monthly Birthday Parties

  • Selling cottage industry products

  • Work projects

  • Peace & Love: Food & supplies for around 20 children

  • (infant – teens)

  • $400 semi annual cash donation

  • Casa Bethesda: Food & supplies for around 25 severely disabled “kids”

  • Adult diapers/bedding/towels

  • Work projects


Is God nudging you to go to Piedras Negras with us? 
All you need is God’s love to share, $ for your dinner, and your American Passport.
We will leave Live Oak at 7:30 a.m. and return around 9 or 10 p.m. (depending on traffic on the Bridge).

Orphanages:

House of Mercy Orphanage serves around 25 children from 1 – 24 yrs old

UCUMC sponsors 2 monthly Birthday Parties during the year
We sell lovely yarn necklaces & soda-top belts made by the kids
We tote venison/chicken, hygiene, food, cleaning products to them
Peace & Love Orphanage serves around 20 children infant – adolescents

UCUMC donates $125/month for physical needs of the children
Casa Bethesda Orphanage is the loving home for around 25 “children” (who live with profound disabilities)

We carry venison/chicken, hygiene, food, cleaning products to them (sheets/blankets/adult diapers)
We have made several work trips to paint/stucco/etc.


Churches:

Templo Aleluya has lunch programs at their church & 2 other locations

Lunch program includes praise service, Bible Study, lunch (often a child’s only full meal of the day)
We sell products from their Cottage Industries including lovely wooden crosses, beaded jewelry, fabric bowls & aprons.
We take venison/chicken, lots of food, fabrics, and hygiene items
We have spent many weekends on work parties for Aleluya buildings
Rey de Reyes Iglesia serves children at their church & 2 other locations

UCUMC pays $100/month rent for one of those locations

We provide a “Mini-Vacation Bible School” bimonthly for 50-100 kids

We have made several trips to paint various parts of the church

We take children’s clothing, fabrics, and hygiene items each trip


UCUMC has also generously donated $10 Christmas toys and has frequently responded to emergency needs as they arise!

It is a privilege to serve with these Christians across the Rio Grande River!

We learn so much from them about life & faith as we work together in

God’s glorious kingdom!

Our shared faith negates all language, economic, or cultural barriers.
