Other Spiritual Connection Opportunities we offer:
Because of COVID-19 ALL Connect Groups listed below have been postponed.
Homerooms
Our church has numerous small "homeroom" groups that meet socially on a regular (typically monthly) basis to strengthen relationships, discuss our church and community, support various missions, and just have fun. If you're interested, the church office can give you advice and a good contact.
United Methodist Women (UMW)
Please join us as a community of women whose purpose is to know God, and to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to participate in global ministries of the church.
We meet on the third Thursday of every month in Fellowship Hall from 9:30a - 11:00a
United Methodist Men (UMM)
United Methodist Men invites you to connect with us as we keep our eye on the central reason for this ministry – to help others grow to a mature faith in God & to support all areas of the church.
We meet on the third Saturday of every month in Fellowship Hall from 8:00a - 9:00a for a short business meeting that includes a devotional and light breakfast.
Hispanic Women's Connection DISCOVER GOD’S LOVE IN SPANISH
Join us for a connection of faith & support that guides us to live a full & happy life. Our meeting days and location vary but are always fun and convenient.

Group Coordinator: Maria Gaytan ~ mariagaytan60@yahoo.com ~ call/text 210-508-5795
The Ageless Group (TAG)
If you are a senior (defined as 50 years of age or up!), we hope to see you at our next TAG gathering. If you've never been to a TAG gathering, we invite you to check us out! TAG isn't an organization you have to join or make a commitment to attend every month. TAG is an opportunity to enjoy a meal with other seniors--along with a little bit of entertainment or an informative talk. Inviting friends and neighbors to TAG gatherings can also be a great way to introduce folks to our community of faith! For more information contact Anita Springer, TAG Coordinator @ 210-659-0006.
Border Ministry
UCUMC Border Ministry ~ helping 2 Methodist Churches and 2 Orphanges in Piedras Negras, Mexico. UCUMC serves Tempo Aleluya Church, Rey de Reyes Church, Adonai Church, Casa Bethesda Orphanage, and House of Mercy Orphanage in Piedras Negras Mexico. UCUMC provides food to all five for lunch programs and general meals at orphanages. We transport food, school supplies, building, and other supplies. UCUMC funds at least two monthly birthday parties at House of Mercy orphanage. This is a party with cake, pizza, pinata, and gifts for any child who has a birthday during that month. For some this could be their first birthday party they have ever had (can you image?). At Rey de Reyes Church we provide a mini VBS every other month to sometimes up to 147 kids. It starts with a pizza, drink, and homemade cookies from ladies in our church. There is a bible lesson, arts and crafts, questions on the bible lesson, and token gifts given to them as they leave for home. The church has six mission home churches now and UCUMC pays $100 per month for one of these churches. Border Ministry relies on mission of the month funds, the UMM, UMW, and devoted individuals to fund our annual budget. All funds go to needs in Mexico. All volunteers who help with the mission by crossing the border with us, pay for their own expenses. You are welcome to travel to Piedras Negras. We appreciate the generosity of money, food, Christmas toys, and ongoing prayers. For more information contact Joe or Becky Painter at 210-387-1914 or 210-364-8343.
Care Team
The vision of the Care Team… to create a ministry team who would take the word of Christ to church members in the hospital or home-bound. The hospital visits accomplish several things… First, team members uphold the person in the hospital with prayer and comfort them with words of assurance. Second, the team reports back to the pastors so all of the congregation can be kept informed and keep the member in their prayers. Finally, the team continues to visit, pray and report back as long as the member is in the hospital.
The visits to home-bound… include people who are in assisted living and nursing homes or are unable to come to church. Members of this latter group may be recovering from a serious illness or injury. The Care Team Ministry members not only visit the home-bound, they also take them communion and communicate with them by telephone and cards.
Please consider joining our team! To find out more information contact…

Children’s Backpack Food Ministry & Communities in Schools (CIS)
UCUM Children’s Ministry in Partnership with Rose Garden Elementary & Communities In Schools
Helping Kids with Nutritional Needs and More:
Our community outreach engages in helping local elementary kids with supplemental nutritional needs and school supplies throughout the school year while building relationships and cultivating a connection by showing kids that Jesus loves them and cares about their needs. For many years this UCUMC outreach ministry has provided needy kids with backpacks full of food to take home every weekend during the school year. These children receive a no-cost breakfast and lunch at school during the week but their families often need help with providing food on weekends and holidays. Last year our backpack team helped over 100 kids and that number is expected to continue to grow.
How to Help....Get Involved! Volunteer your time, energy and gifts to the cause. Show up once a week or once a month...how is God calling you? Donate a food item and drop off at UCUMC in the shopping cart located in Fellowship Hall! Questions? Please contact Bob Miller at rrmiller21@satx.rr.com

Meals on Wheels
Universal City United Methodist Church Proudly Supports Meals on Wheels as a sponsor location. Meals are delivered to our church kitchen and teams of volunteers deliver them to the surrounding community. Meals on Wheels is a public-private partnership that enables seniors to remain more healthy and independent in their own homes, where they want to be, avoiding far more costly healthcare alternatives, such as unnecessary trips to the emergency room, hospitalizations and nursing home placements. Meals on Wheels San Antonio prepares and delivers hot, nutritious meals each weekday to older and disabled community members living throughout Bexar, Guadalupe, Frio, and Atascosa Counties. Every weekday Meals on Wheels prepares and delivers more than a meal to 3,400 of your neighbors.
Call our UCUMC Meals on Wheels Coordinator Helen Ekland at 210-710-4522 to participate.
