Contemporary Class

Adult Sunday School Classes

We know folks interested in Sunday School are often involved in Choir, Hospitality, Worship, and other ministries on Sunday mornings as well, so we’ve timed classes to accommodate your ministry schedule - plus allow bit of time to stop off for a cup of coffee, a visit, and snack in Fellowship Hall on your way.  Once refreshed, there are options for your discipleship Study.

Some of our Adult classes have been meeting for years.  Others are brand new.  If you need help finding the spot that is right for you, call us @ 210-659-5555.  Better yet, meet us at Fellowship Hall for a cup of coffee on Sunday morning!

Are you ready to go deeper into the Word.  Are you willing to be stretched by a contemporary point of view?

The Contemporary class is not a bible study although we do emphasize biblical references in our discussions. Our objective is to seek understanding in how to be strong Christian witnesses in this contemporary world of secularism, division, and rancor. Most of our studies come from books by Max Lucado, Adam Hamilton, Tom Berlin, Philip Yancey, and other contemporary pastors and authors.

John Ortberg - Who is This Man? : The Unpredictable Impact of the Inescapable Jesus

The day after Jesus' death, whatever small mark he made on the world seemed destined to disappear. Instead, his impact on human history has been unparalleled, leading believers and nonbelievers alike to ask, Who Is This Man?
In Who Is This Man, bestselling author John Ortberg explores the paradox of Jesus, history's most familiar figure while simultaneously the man no one knows. Who Is This Man traces Jesus' incredible life and legacy from his days on Earth to the present moment, showing us:
· How his vision of life continues to haunt and challenge humanity
· The ways his influence has inspired movements in art, science, government, medicine, & education
· How his lessons about dignity, compassion, forgiveness, and hope continue to influence humanity

Join John Ortberg as he shares how Jesus' influence has swept over history and how his vision of life continues to impact us today.” Our class meets in Room 14 and on Zoom on Sundays following the 8:30 worship service. If you choose to join us on Zoom, please us know your email address so we can send you a link.

Bible Journey Class

This is a Bible Study Class in the classical sense.

Do you ever feel like Jesus couldn’t possibly know what you are going through? He’s the God of the universe after all! Does he really know your daily struggles?

The good news is: he does.

For more than three decades, pastor and bestselling author Max Lucado has shown us Jesus. In this capstone book, he takes us further on the journey to know the life and character of the Savior. This book describes both the person Jesus was on earth and how to live in a personal relationship with him.
